The American Association of University Women (AAUW) empowers women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research. Our nonpartisan, nonprofit organization has more than 170,000 members and supporters across the United States, as well as 1,000 local branches and 800 college and university partners. Since AAUW’s founding in 1881, our members have examined and taken positions on the fundamental issues of the day — educational, social, economic, and political.

Schaumburg Area Branch Strategic Plan
The Schaumburg Area, Illinois Branch goals for 2023-2024 support the AAUW Mission and the AAUW Strategic Areas of Focus. Our goals to support this mission within the AAUW strategic initiatives include:
- Education & Training: Public Policy awareness, including advocacy and action for pay advocacy and action; Support STEM and similar initiatives
- Economic Security: Financial support of AAUW funds; Funding of the Schaumburg Area AAUW Harper Scholarship
- Leadership: Expand visibility for AAUW in the community with participation or support in community events; Branch participation at AAUW, AAUW-IL, and AAUW Schaumburg Branch events
- Governance & Sustainability: Support the initiatives from AAUW National and State; Engage in collaborative dialog with area AAUW Branches; Develop a DEI activity in the Schaumburg area
- Infuse AAUW Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion toolkit into branch programming and interest groups
